I went and read! Very nice job from Elizabeth, but the one voice thing I remember Thurl Ravenscroft doing wasn’t even mentioned in the essay – he appeared on two of Rosemary Clooney’s early recordings, “This Ole House” and “Where Will The Dimple Be?”.
(”This Ole House” was written by Stuart Hamblen, who also wrote a little tune called “Let The Sunshine In”, which became a big hit for a couple of stone-age babies from Bedrock.)
Ravenscroft is on “Seven Dreams” by Gordon Jenkins (a sort of LP operetta). One of the dreams has Dickie Beals and Thurl, one right after the other — tres convenient.
Trix Rabbit and Sonny the Coo-Coo Bird. I always figured one day they’d get together. “Listen, Sonny. They won’t let me have Trix, but I can get Cocoa Puffs and nobody says a thing. Now, here’s my plan…”
I know that Thurl Ravenscroft sang the low part on “This Ole House” with Rosemary Clooney. What I want to know is if he sang the same part on Stuart Hamblen’s original recording of the song? Sure sounds like the same guy.
