The kerfuffle would seem to indicate that an awful lot of people in this country have no sense of humor, or at least don’t understand the notion of satire. I’m a huge admirer of Barry Blitt, the artist who did the cover–and I’d count this cover among his best pieces of work ever.

I’m glad, at least, that New Yorker editor David Remnick isn’t backing down or apologizing to anyone.

Oh, and did I mention that Barry Blitt has drawn me? Granted, it was as a weirdo marrying a laptop, not a terrorist–but I was thrilled, not offended…
